VelQuest Partners With Waters; Enhances the Value of a Chromatography Data System

HOPKINTON, Mass., Aug 6, 2002 (BW HealthWire) -- VelQuest and Waters Corporation (Milford, MA) announced today a marketing partnership and a joint effort to provide a seamless interface to the Waters Millennium(R)32 Chromatography Data System to help scientists better manage scientific data. The Millennium32 Interface will allow VelQuest's electronic notebook system to transfer critical sample preparation data electronically using the Waters Millennium32 Toolkit.

The VelQuest electronic notebook system allows scientists using the Millennium32 chromatography data system (CDS) to automatically receive critical data such as sample weights, dilution factors and information on standards and buffers. This information combined with peak integration data from the Millennium32 CDS gives scientists the quantitative information they need. Transcription errors due to manual entry of data are eliminated. Productivity gains are realized by automatic transfer of data.

"The value that a chromatography data system such as Millennium32 brings to our customers will be increased by linking critical sample preparation data to the HPLC analysis results," said Mark Harnois, Senior Marketing Manager - Data Products, Waters Corporation. "We look forward to expanding this relationship to bring our customers not only the benefits of the current systems but also of tying Millennium32 to VelQuest's full electronic notebook system.

To date, scientists have struggled with critical applications not effectively sharing information from other applications, and therefore requiring, arduous manual input of data. As a Premier member of Waters Software Partner Program, VelQuest offers the interface necessary for the electronic notebook (ePMC) system to take full advantage of the available features in the Millennium32 Toolkit while seamlessly providing sample weights, dilution factors and information on standards and buffers.

Secondly, having the chromatographic file linked to the meta data that is being used for quantification will greatly facilitate the time for test data and batch record review. The scientist or QA reviewer no longer has to go out and locate the data. They can simply click on a box and have the data, methods and all the other supporting meta data displayed.

"Our partnership with Waters benefits scientists using Millennium32 software by providing them with a system for handling non chromatography instruments, in a compatible manner to the Millennium32 Chromatography Data System. The combination meets the FDA 21 CFR part 11 documentation issues, while establishing a GxP electronic notebook based compliance platform they can build on in the future", said Alberto Correia, Vice President of VelQuest Corporation.

The VelQuest electronic notebook (ePMC) system is directly aimed at managing the productivity of laboratory analysts. It is estimated that approximately 70% of laboratory resources are dedicated to meeting the compliance standards. The ePMC system ensures compliance as well as improving productivity by greater than 25%.
